Creating and publishing Web pages
The easiest way to create a Web page is to use a Web authoring-tool, also called an HTML-authoring tool. One of the more common authoring tools is Dreamweaver, which is available for purchase from Macromedia, many other authoring tools are available. These tools write the HTML code for you as you compose your page. Using them is similar to using a word processor such as Microsoft Word.
As an alternative, you can create Web pages by writing the HTML code yourself in a text editor program such as Notepad. Pointers to learning HTML include Writing HTML: A tutorial for creating Web pages, Web Monkey, and Getting Started with HTML
FTP Details (uploading your webpages)
FTP (File Transfer Protocol) allows you to transfer files across the Internet.
To use FTP, you need to be familiar with FTP commands or use a program that
manages those commands for you e.g WS-FTP (http://www.ipswitch.com/)
To connect to your site through FTP:
1. Start an FTP program.
2. Log in using the following information:
Host=yourdomain.co.uk
User Id =your-username@yourdomain.co.uk
Note: The default upload directory is /home/your-username
You can upload your Web content into this default directory, however, when you want to make the content available to Internet browsers, you must put the HTML content into the directory:
/home/your-username/ mainwebsite_html
